On September 17, 7 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan — including 1 woman and 6 children — who had been held in camps on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, were repatriated to Azerbaijan, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.

It was stated that, following the instructions of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman), Sabina Aliyeva, employees of her Office met with the repatriated individuals, who had been placed in a social service facility under the Social Services Agency of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population and the state of protection of their rights was examined.

During the meeting, the woman and children were informed about the Ombudsman’s mandate, activities, and ways to reach out to the institution. Recommendations were provided regarding the children’s social adaptation, education, documentation processes, and other related matters.

At the same time, conversations were held with the head of the institution and employees, and information was obtained about the work done with the placed persons.

The matter remains under the Ombudsman’s supervision.
