Azerbaijan is one of the countries seriously affected by the problem of missing people, said Habib Mikayilli, head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration, APA reports.
He stated that there are about 3900 people who went missing during the First Garabagh War: “They were tortured, killed, and buried while they were in captivity. We collaborate with the International Committee of the Red Cross towards addressing this problem. But we had high expectations from the Committee of the Red Cross. On the other hand, we brought this issue to the meeting of the UN General Assembly. Now the conflict is over. Even during the war, we said that we should not wait for the end of the conflict to address the humanitarian issues, as the conflict could have continued for several years. At international conferences and summits, the Armenian side was repeatedly called to provide information about the locations of mass graves, but they have not taken any steps to date."
