The parents said they paid for education of their children so far. Members of the Parliament promised to learn the issue.

Senior financial adviser to the Ministry of Education Adila Ahmadova told APA that reason of non-payment of tuitions to the students receiving education abroad within the State Program is that the Cabinet of Ministers had not yet approved the normative standards related to this issue. Last year tuitions and accommodation expenses were paid on the basis of documents submitted by the universities and facilities, where the students were studying and living. According to the June 3, 2008 decision by the Cabinet of Ministers, the expenses should be met on the basis of normative standards. Ahmadova said after the approval of these standards the expenses would be counted from the beginning of the year and paid.

The Ministry’s official said this year they need in about 5 million AZN to meet expenses of nearly 200 students studying in 19 countries. She said now the students had no problems with their tuitions, travel expenditures, visa tariffs and registration fees except their accommodation expenditures.

Press Service of the Cabinet of Ministers was not available to obtain their comments.

The expenditures are paid on account of State Oil Fund.
State Oil Fund told APA there was no financial problem in this respect: “We are waiting for the approval of normative”
