Apple has said that the removal of applications owned by VKontakte (VK) from the App Store is related to compliance with sanctions regulations, BBC reported, citing a statement from the company, APA reports.
However, Apple did not specify which sanctions it was referring to.
Earlier, VK's press service said that the VKontakte, Dzen, VK Video, VK Messenger, and Odnoklassniki applications had been unilaterally removed from the App Store without prior notice. The company emphasized that VK itself has never been included on any sanctions list.
It should be recalled that earlier this month, the Max application, considered Russia's state messenger, was also removed from the App Store. At the time, Apple likewise justified the decision as being due to sanctions compliance requirements but did not clarify which sanctions were involved.
