Number of legalized migrants triples in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ilham Isabalayeva - APA-Economics. â€œThe flow of economic migrants to Azerbaijan has increased in recent years. They most come from Turkey, Georgia and other states,â€ said Natig Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Azerbaijan.
According to him, after changes and additions made to the Code of Administrative Offences, more migrants have begun to legalize their work in Azerbaijan.
He said 5 000 migrants have received work permits during January-September this year given that the figure was 1 700 last year.
Mammadov said that the Ministry has asked the Government to increase the fee for work permits for migrants.
According to him, it is proposed to increase the fee from 45 manats to about 1000 manat.
â€œThe reason why we want to increase the fee is that we have a sufficient number of specialists today. However, there is a need for some specialists for some works,â€ he added.
