Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva – APA-Economics. Preparation for the 2009 general census has continued to progress, said Arif Veliyev, Acting Chairman of Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee.
He added that about 30 000 people will be involved in the census.
“There are some problems, including unnamed streets and buildings which don’t allow us to draw up specific plans,” he added.
According to him, the census credibility is 97-98%.
Given the form included 21 questions in the last census in 1999, there will be 35 questions now. The questions, based on the UN recommendations, cover geographical, demographic, economic, social, housing criteria.
The 1999 general census lasted 8 days but this is slated to take 10 days in 2009. Azerbaijan’s population is 8.8 million.
