Huseyngulu Bagirov: More than 500 000 saplings to be planted in Absheron by the end of November

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has embarked on planting saplings along the new roads in Baku.
Huseyngulu Bagirov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources said they were awaiting the start of the planting season.
â€œWe have begun a massive planting across Azerbaijan, including the Absheron Peninsula. Trees are planted along the new roads as well as in various places that are suitable for planting trees,â€ he noted.
The Minister noted that the olive trees are being planted in Absheron and 14 000 local seedlings will be planted over the next 2-3 days and 90 000 olive trees brought from Spain, Italy and Slovenia will be planted.
Â«These works will be carried out along a new road to the airport. The total length of the green zone along the road is 23 kilometers (11.5 kilometers each side) and the green zone will be at least 100 meters wide. Oil-polluted lands were cleared, about 15 000 cubic meters of oil-contaminated land has been taken away for processing, and 12 000 cubic meters of clean land rich in fertilizers have been brought.
In addition, 10 wells were drilled for irrigation. 75 km irrigation networks have been created. About 200 000 trees will be planted here, of which 100 000 are olive, and 14 000 pomegranate trees. In this area 43 000 trees have been planted, and planting will be complete until the end of November. Tree planting is also ongoing in 250 hectares stretching to airport and 190 hectares in surrounding areas. 500 000 to 600 000 trees will be planted in Absheron by the end of November,â€ he added.
