Chief of Azerbaijani Committee against Torture meets with ex-minister

Baku – APA. Chief of Azerbaijani Committee against Torture Elchin Behbudov visited Bayil detention place #1 of Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service. Human rights defender told APA that he met with Novruzali Mammadov, editor-in-chief of Tolishi Sedo newspaper, department chief of Linguistic Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. Mammadov, who had been accused of high treason and sentenced to 10 years in jail, did not complain of his detention conditions and did not admit his guilt. Human rights defender said he also met with ex-economic development minister Farhad Aliyev and his brother, former president of Azpetrol Group of Companies Rafig Aliyev. Elchin Behbudov said they were detained in four-man cell and did not complain of their detention conditions.
