Montgomery’s disease not found in Azerbaijan

Chief of State veterinary service Ismayil Hasanov said that bird flu was monitored seven times last year (April-December) and eight times this year. Samples taken from 25283 birds and poultries were examined in republic veterinary laboratory. No bird flu virus was found out in 17,073 samples taken last year and 8,210 this year. Pathological samples taken from 693 poultries and 26 wild birds were examined during the monitoring conducted on June 27-July 7. The results were negative. No dead or ill birds were found during the monitoring.
The service chief said that the monitoring will be postponed by autumn. Noting that epizootic situation in the country is normal Hasanov said measures are taken to keep stability.
The service chief said as Montgomery’s disease caused mass death of swine in Georgia import of pork products to Azerbaijan was banned as from June 7.
“The veterinary service controls over migration of wild animals as well as swine to prevent infection. No disease was found out in 79 blood samples taken from pig-breeding farms,” he said. /APA/
