Azerbaijani parliament doesn’t accepts several remarks by UN Committee on Child’s Rights

Vice-speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova spoke about the importance of the event, APA reports.

Responsible officer of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Munir Mammadzadeh spoke about the recommendations on improvement of national legislation with regard to the reports, which were submitted by Azerbaijan in 2012 to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and noted points of concern. The recommendations included the creation of the Children’s Ombudsman and importance of increasing of expenses from the state budget in the sphere of education.

Vice-speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Bahar Muradova said that the government of Azerbaijan will follow the part of recommendations. But she didn’t agree some parts of speeches.

Ali Huseynli, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy and State Building recalled the activity of Institution for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) in the country and said that an office can be established as part of this institution that will deal with the rights of children.

Shamsaddin Hajiyev, Chairman of the Parliament’s Standing Commission on Science and Education didn’t agree with the remark concerning the state funding education. According to him, sphere of education is one the most state funded sphere after the defense: “The funds allocated to this sphere in our country have the highest indications in the CIS.”
