Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “Desertification is one of the most serious environmental problems in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan’s territory is not so big, and there are few fertile lands,†Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Bagirov told journalists, APA reports.
Minister said fertile areas are reducing in the country, because of the increase of cattle in Azerbaijan.
“Cattle are not allowed in the areas of the forest fund. Therefore, there is an improvement regarding the problem. But one can not say that the problem of desertification has been eliminated completely. There is still much to be done regarding desertification. The relevant State Program has been adopted,†he said.
