Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. Ministry of Haj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia has issued a statement on the hajj pilgrimage.
Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Azerbaijan told APA that the though the Iranian delegation discussed hajj pilgrimage with Saudi Arabia, at the end of the meeting they did not agree to sign the protocol and said that the document must be reviewed by Iran's supreme religious leadership.
“Moreover, they demanded their pilgrims to obtain the visas in Iran. While, the diplomatic ties between the two countries have been broken after Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad were attacked. However, the Ministry of Haj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia told Iranian delegation they may obtain visa for their pilgrims through Centralized E-System”.
It was noted that Saudi Arabia is open for hajj and umrah pilgrimages from all around the world: “However, the rules regulating the pilgrimages must be obeyed. Saudi Arabia mobilizes all material and human resources for pilgrimage. If anyone prevents their citizens’ hajj pilgrimages, this is their own decision and they will bear responsibility before the God and world”.
