He noted that in connection with the incident, which occurred last year, Iran has demanded that Saudi Arabia guarantees security for its pilgrims.

"We came up with 17 proposals. But Saudi Arabia did not accept any of them, refusing to accept the responsibility for the tragic incident that occurred in the past year. The life and safety of our pilgrims is important to us. And we did not send them to Hajj this year for that reason. We will try to keep our quota unchanged, and if the conditions are created, then we'll start to send our pilgrims to Hajj again,” the diplomat said.

According to the ambassador, other Muslim countries should also demand security guarantees or reduce the number of their pilgrims.

"As the analysis shows, if Saudi Arabia do not provide security guarantees, the number of those making pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina will go down,” he noted.
