The committee chairman, department heads and chairmen of the newly-registered communities attended the meeting, the State Committee told APA.

Addressing the meeting, Committee Chairman Mubariz Gurbanli spoke about relations between the state and religion.

“Under the order signed by Azerbaijan’s president on 27 November 2014 on provision of financial assistance to religious communities in order to further strengthen the work on religious education and the promotion of national and moral values, a number of events are regularly held in the country’s districts,” Gurbanli said, urging the newly-registered religious communities to objectively cover Islamic values.

The state committee chairman, giving his recommendations to the chairmen of the newly registered religious communities, emphasized the need for the communities to be more active and work in mutual cooperation with akhunds and imams in different places as well as CMO officials.

At the same time, he recommended they prevent acts likely to provoke confrontation between different denominations, direct their communities to strife towards national values and ideological combat against radicalism, and support national interests.

Gurbanli then presented registration certificates to community chairmen.
