New Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations comments on religious situation in Azerbaijan

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva â€“ APA. â€œThere are positive progresses in the sphere of national religious situation as in all spheres in Azerbaijan. The religious communities and the devout are not representatives of the other planets. They live in developing Azerbaijan, and social situation of which improves day by dayâ€, new Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Elshad Iskandarov told journalists, APA reports.

According to him, there are specific problems on religious situation in the country: â€œThe biggest threat is the attempts of separate countries to use the religious ground for political interests. This case has recently increased. Azerbaijan respects all religious models, the way of separate countries. We demand the same respect for Azerbaijanâ€™s model tooâ€.

Iskandarov said that Azerbaijanâ€™s religious policy was established for strengthening the secular statehood: â€œAfter restoration of Azerbaijanâ€™s independence the foreign countries could not and will not do work to break this policy. Thatâ€™s why the best way is to withdraw from this policyâ€.
