Persons studied abroad prohibited from holding Islamic rites and ceremonies in Azerbaijan

APA reports that the draft amendments which will concern the religious activity, was discussed at the joint meeting of the Parliament’s committees on Legal policy and State-building and Human Rights and recommended to the parliament’s plenary session.
By the amendment made to the article No 300 of the Code of Administrative Offences, the activities considered as the faith violation were determined. Thus, after the entry of the amendment into force, the sending of citizens abroad in order to get religious education without coordinating with the corresponding executive body, the exchange of religious figures, the implementation of Islamic rites and ceremonies by the persons studied abroad, making religious propaganda by foreigners and stateless persons will be considered as the violation of religious legislation.
If the carrying out of the religious agitations is held by the foreigners and stateless persons by distributing the religious literature, things and materials of religious content, it causes the criminal responsibility according to the Criminal Code’s corresponding article.
