CMB hosts meeting with Chairman of US California Senate Environmental Quality Committee

Parvin Abbasov - APA. â€œAzerbaijan is a tolerant country, the representatives of all confessions are equal hereâ€, said Chairman of the Caucasian Muslim Board (CMB) Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh at the meeting with delegation led by Chairman of the US California Senate Environmental Quality Committee, Senator Joseph Simitian, APA reports. He underlined the good atmosphere of coexistence for the representatives of various confessions and peoples in Azerbaijan: â€œWe have no serious problems in religious and state issues. Every sphere has small problems, we settle themâ€.

Chairman of the US California Senate Environmental Quality Committee, Senator Joseph Simitian thanked for hospitality and informed about the members of delegation led by him. He said that his visit to Baku was interesting and asked Sheikh-ul-Islam about how the coexistence of representatives of various confessions was ensured equally in a secular country like Azerbaijan: â€œIt is difficult or impossible in most countries of the worldâ€.

Pashazadeh said that it was not so difficult: â€œHead of State of Azerbaijan shows equal attitude to all confessionsâ€.

Then the meeting was continued behind the closed doors.

Leaders of the religious communities functioning in Azerbaijan, including Head of the Religious Community of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan Semyon Ikhilov, Baku and Caspian littoral Bishop Alexander also participated in the meeting.
