Court sustains claim of Jehovah’s Witnesses against State Committee on Work with Religious Associations

APA reports that the religious community appealed to the committee to bring 1500 copies of the religious literature to Azerbaijan and the Watchtower magazine that is banned in Azerbaijan. The committee permitted to bring only 300 copies of the religious literature, did not permit to bring the Watchtower. Jehovah’s Witnesses brought suit against the State Committee on Work with Religious Associations for bringing the religious literature and the Watchtower magazine to Azerbaijan, and receiving AZN 1000 pecuniary damage, AZN 800 non-pecuniary damage.

The court passed a decision permitting the community to bring religious literature and the abovementioned magazine to Azerbaijan.

The claim about the pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage was rejected.
