In January-June of this year, there was a loss of 2.2 thousand tons in oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is 29.4% more than in the previous year, the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan told APA-Economics.
The loss in the oil pipelines across the Republic made up 1,7 thousand tons during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Note that in January-June of the current year, 19 238,6 thousand tons of oil were transported through oil pipelines, which is 2.1% more in annual comparison. 75.2% of the transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline (BTC). During the reporting period, 14,468.7 thousand tons of oil were transferred through this pipeline, which is 3.7% less compared to the year.
Recall that last year, Azerbaijan experienced a 3,800-ton loss in oil pipelines, which is a 31% increase compared to the previous year. In 2023, a total of 39,753.2 thousand tons of oil was transported via main oil pipelines, reflecting a 5.2% increase year-on-year. Of this transportation, 75.9% was carried out through the BTC pipeline, which transported 30,191.6 thousand tons of oil over the year, representing a 1.49% increase compared to the previous year.
