"Azerbaijan will be an active member of the Consultative Meeting format," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the informal meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries, APA's correspondent dispatched to Kyrgyzstan reports.
The president said that relations with the Central Asian countries are among the main priorities of Azerbaijan's foreign policy.
"From the beginning of 2025 until this week, that is, over the past three and a half years, I have paid a total of 16 visits to the brotherly Central Asian countries. During the same period, my counterparts have visited Azerbaijan 26 times. These figures best demonstrate the dynamics and closeness of our relations, as well as the fact that today Central Asia and Azerbaijan have become a single geopolitical and geo-economic space. I would also like to note that today I am participating in the Consultative Meeting for the first time as a full-fledged member of this format. I would like to take this opportunity to once again express my gratitude to the heads of the Central Asian states for the historic decision adopted in Uzbekistan last year to admit Azerbaijan as a full member of this group. Previously, I participated in these meetings as a guest of honor, but now I am taking part as a full-fledged member of the team. I once again thank all my colleagues.
I want to assure you that Azerbaijan will be an active member of the Consultative Meeting format and, for its part, will spare no effort to further expand cooperation and strengthen ties between our countries and peoples," the head of state said.
