“The legacy of Sayyid Yahya Bakuvi is an important part of the common spiritual wealth of the Turkic and Islamic world,” Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev stated, APA reports.
He made the remarks during his speech at the plenary session of an international scientific-practical conference dedicated to Azerbaijani thinker and scholar Sheikh Sayyid Yahya Bakuvi, held within the framework of the 7th Meeting of Muslim Religious Leaders of the Organization of Turkic States.
According to him, the intellectual and spiritual legacy of Sheikh Sayyid Yahya Bakuvi demonstrates that Islam has always attached special importance to science and the pursuit of truth.
The OTS Secretary General noted that the Turkic world has a rich and closely interconnected Islamic heritage.
Kubanychbek Omuraliev said that this common heritage is one of the foundations of cooperation among the member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States.
The Secretary General emphasized that religious cooperation is of particular importance within the OTS. He said that the OTS supports the development of institutional cooperation among the religious institutions of its member and observer states.
The OTS Secretary General cited polarization, intolerance, extremism and Islamophobia among the main challenges of the modern era.
He added that the OTS will continue to support initiatives that strengthen cooperation among religious institutions, scholars, universities and cultural organizations.
