The concept of a “personal token of military personnel” is being introduced into the legislation, APA reports.
This is reflected in the proposed amendment to the law “On Military Duty and Military Service,” which was discussed at today’s session of the Milli Majlis.
According to the draft, a personal token is a sign used to identify military personnel who have been killed, deceased, or injured (wounded, traumatized, concussed), containing an individual identification number and blood group information. Military personnel are provided with personal tokens by the state bodies (institutions included in the structure of the state body) where they serve. The procedure for providing military personnel with personal tokens, as well as the description, characteristics, and registration rules of the token, is determined by the body (institution) designated by the relevant executive authority.
It was noted that military personnel face various risks while performing their service duties. In connection with their official activities, cases may occur where they are killed or injured (wounded, traumatized, concussed, disfigured, etc.) during combat operations and other emergency situations. In such circumstances, the prompt identification of military personnel and the timely and proper provision of medical assistance to them (especially in terms of the availability of blood group information) are of vital importance. In this regard, there is a need for military personnel to use a method of individual identification — a mechanism widely applied in international practice and proven effective. To resolve this issue, it is proposed to add the concept of a “Personal token” and rules for its use to the legislation.
After discussions, the draft law was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
