Azerbaijani parliament discusses financing e-media

Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Azerbaijani MP Aflatun Amashov has proposed to render financial support for electronic media.

Speaking at the parliament’s meeting on Friday, the MP noted that the government gives the printed media financial support through the State Fund for Supportof Mass Media Development.

“However, today online media is rapidly developing in or society. Despite the increasing role of internet media in the society, this media resource is facing financial difficulties. In this regard, we should pay attention to providing financial support to internet media”, he said.

The MP also touched upon the role of advertising to improve the socio-economic condition of the media.

“Today, the lack of advertising exacerbates the already difficult situation of the media. The media should provide itself with advertising revenue. However, there are problems in this are,” he said, stressing the need to strike a balance in this matter, because the government can not long support the media.

Amashov also proposed the adoption of draft the law “On defamation.”
