"Azerbaijan will become the main player in Eurasian logistics if the Zangazur corridor is opened after ensuring the territorial integrity of the country,” Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rahman Hummetov said at the panel on "Zero Emissions Shipping, Freight Logistics and Transport", APA reports.
The deputy minister said that the Zangazur corridor will be the shortest and safest transit route between Europe, Central Asia and China: “Azerbaijan is taking important steps in the transformation of its transport routes by investing in strategic infrastructure. As an example, let me mention that the volume of transit cargo passing through the territory of Azerbaijan increased from 5.7 million tons to 13.4 million tons in 2019-2023. Azerbaijan, together with its partners, is committed to "green transformation" initiatives along the Middle Corridor.”
