The Trans-Caspian fiber-optic line between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is expected to be commissioned in less than a month, Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at the Central Asia-Mongolia-Caucasus-Afghanistan (CAMCA) Regional Forum in Baku, APA reports.
According to him, the project will create a new high-capacity connection between Europe and Asia.
Jabbarov said modern regional corridors are not limited to freight transportation and also include energy and digital connectivity.
He noted that Azerbaijan’s investment in connectivity is the result of a long-term and targeted policy. Along with port, railway and shipbuilding infrastructure, energy infrastructure, pipelines and fiber-optic connections are also part of this policy.
According to the minister, competitive energy and high-capacity connectivity infrastructure create a natural foundation for data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Azerbaijan.
