Water security in Azerbaijan is heavily dependent on regional cooperation, Udyan Seth, Head of Global Water Desalination & Executive VP of Business Development, at ACWA Power, said during his speech on the second day of the Baku Climate Action Week, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that Azerbaijan's water distribution system is not fully balanced. As a result, some regions face water shortages while others have an excess. Additionally, there is limited rainfall and natural water bodies in Azerbaijan.
"We should provide sustainable solutions and implement innovative technologies to meet water demand. Desalination has been identified as a crucial solution for regions in need of this resource. One of the technological innovations in desalination is the reduction of energy consumption and capital costs. This is important because significant financial resources are required for desalination," he noted.
