AutoShow and AutoParts kick off in Baku

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. Iteca Caspian LLC, the exclusive partner of the British ITE Group PLC, has today opened 4th AutoShow (Azerbaijan International Automobile Exhibition) and 3rd AutoParts (Spare Parts, Accessories and Maintenance Exhibition Equipment).
At the opening ceremony, Chingiz Bakhshiyev, Officer of the Ministry of Transport, said the two exhibitions gathered together more than 50 companies from 15 countries.
Erestun Majodov, Officer of State Traffic Police Department, said there are 900 000 vehicles in Azerbaijan.
â€œAbout 100 000 vehicles were imported to the country last year. Of this, 85 000 are used in Baku,â€ he added.
Iteca Caspian Director Farid Mammadov said the exhibition space was reduced by 20% this year due to the global financial crisis.
According to him, similar exhibitions were canceled in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Bulgaria and Romania.
â€œIn this situation, the organization of these exhibitions in Azerbaijan is very positive,â€ he added.
In his words, the local companies will take 40% of the exhibition space, leaving 60% to foreign firms.
The exhibitions will be wrapped up on March 29.
