The United States has added a Cuban bank, 10 other entities, and 16 individuals to its Iran sanctions list. The corresponding notice was posted on the website of the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, APA reports.
According to a statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, released by the Foreign Ministry's press service, the Cuban bank Banco Internacional de Comercio, SA, was placed on sanctions lists for allegedly providing services to Iranian financial institutions. The US sanctions also target legal entities registered in Iran, Iraq, and Hong Kong, including the Iraq-based International Development Bank (IDB). All individuals included on the sanctions lists are Iranian citizens.
In addition, the US Treasury Department issued a general license allowing the conduct of operations necessary to complete transactions involving the IDB until October 30.
Inclusion on the sanctions list means freezing assets in the United States and prohibiting American citizens and companies from doing business with those listed.
