Results of Azerbaijan Innovative Teachers Competition announced

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan Innovative Teachers Forum took place in Baku on February 28.
Misir Mardanov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Education, and project partners – Emin Akhundov, Microsoft Azerbaijan’s Manager for Education, Ramin Mahmudzade, head of the competition jury, Rasim Bakhish, HP Azerbaijan’s Manager for Business Development, and Emin Mammadov, Director of MADAD Humanitarian Organization, spoke about the importance of the project.
As part of the State Program on Informatization of Educational System-2008-2012, the Innovative Teachers program is built on the understanding that informed, empowered teachers are at the heart of meaningful and effective teaching and learning. The teachers were chosen from competitors all over secondary schools in Azerbaijan.
Priority was given to teacher project submissions highlighting the use of IT in education and the best most innovative methods of teaching.
Winners were announced in 2 categories: “Innovation in content” and “Innovation in Partnership”.
” Innovations in content” was aimed at determining the best educational projects that enable using innovative approaches and use of information technology in an effective form of preparing the school curriculum.
In this category, the 1st place was taken by “Wonders of Digits in the Philosophy of Life” by Gulnara Salimova, teacher of secondary school # 7 in Baku; the 2nd place – “Energy” by Ilham Safarov, teacher of secondary school #10 in Lenkaran, the 3rd place – “Environmental Pollution” by Ayna Sadygova, teacher of the College named after Heydar Aliyev.
“Innovation in partnership” was aimed at determining the best curriculum project which most effectively involves the various groups - teachers, students, schools, parents, etc.
In the category, the 1st place was taken by “Security in Virtual Life” by Rahila Aliyarzade and Bahar Kerimova, teachers of Baku Europe College; the 2nd place – “We Teach By Being Taught” by Aygun Azizov, teacher of the school named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva in Baku; 3rd place – “The Human in The World of Human” by Zemphira Mahammadova, teacher of school #189 in Baku.
More than 200 teachers applied to the Innovative Teachers Competition.
The winners were awarded valuable gifts Microsoft Azerbaiajn and HP. The winners will represent Azerbaijan at the Europe Innovative Forum in Vienna on March 24-26.
