Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. Baku Court of Appeal has today held a preliminary hearing on the appeal filed against the judgment on imprisoned theologian Taleh Baghirov.
Lawyer Javad Javadli told APA that the hearing was scheduled for December 19.
Azerbaijani Interior Ministry has issued a statement on the arrest of theologian Taleh Baghirov and his driver. As a result of search operations conducted by Sabunchu District Police Department, one "Makarov" pistol, 4 cartridges and a knife were seized from Baku resident Anar Malikov and 1,026 gram heroin from Taleh Baghirov near the "ABU Petrol" filling station. Criminal case has been launched on the fact, both of them were arrested.
Unknown persons opened fire with automatic weapons outside the summerhouse of People's Artist Zeynab Khanlarova in Nardaran settlement, threw petrol bombs into her yard. Following this, they threw such petrol bombs into the yard of Rafig Ibrahimov’s summerhouse, broke the windows of the first floor, wrote “Freedom to Taleh Baghirov” on the wall. On the same day, at about 05.35 Bakhtiyar Gurbanov and Royal Asgerov were detained as suspects near Baku Mayor’s Office and gasoline in one 5-liter plastic bottles and four 1-litter bottles, stone, cotton, sponge and old pants were seized from their bag.
Sabunchu District Court sentenced Taleh Baghirov to two-year imprisonment.
