Baku - APA. Some details of the police operation carried out in Turkey, where sons of ministers, officials and famous businessmen were detained, have been revealed. Turkey has been shocked by the news of detention of family members of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) senior officials.
APA reports quoting Hurriyet that police detained Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan’s son Salih Kaan Caglayan, Interior Minister Muammar Guler’s son Baris Guler, Minister of Urban Planning and Environment Erdogan Bayraktar’s son Oguz Bayraktar, Zafer Caglayan’s assistants Behcet Kaynar and Onur Kaya, Bayraktar’s advisor Sadik Soylu, chief of the ministry’s urban planning department Mehmet Ali Kahraman, head of Fatih district municipality Mustafa Demir (AKP), director general of Halkbank Suleyman Aslan, one of the richest businessmen Ali Agaoglu, singer Ebru Gundes’ husband, businessman Reza Zarrab and others. It is not yet known whether they will be sentenced to pre-trial detention or not.
Main Police Office of Interior Ministry told press that the operation is being carried out basing on the materials collected within a year. The investigation is being carried out by first Assistant Prosecutor General of Istanbul and prosecutor Jelal Kara. Zekeriya Oz is the prosecutor, who led Ergenekon operation and sanctioned numerous arrests within that operation.
