Mostly Azerbaijani citizens violate state border and border regime in Azerbaijan

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. Officers of Azerbaijan State Border Service have detained 515 trespassers and 18159 people who violated the border regime this year.

APA reports that the information about it was provided at the board meeting on the outcomes of combat activities of the State Border Service in 2013.

46% of detainees were citizens of Azerbaijan, 16.5% - citizens of Uzbekistan, 8.2% - citizens of Iran, 4.9% - citizens of Georgia, 4.6% - citizens of Moldova, 3.9% - citizens of Afghanistan, 3.5% - citizens of Nigeria, 2.7% - citizens of Russia, 2.3% - citizens of Turkey and 7.3% - citizens of other countries.

Smuggled goods worth AZN 669 200 were seized in 2013. Smuggling of 150 462 gram narcotic substances was prevented on the state border. 25.8 tons of narcotic plants were destroyed.

3 criminal groups dealing with illegal immigration, 9 organized criminal groups engaged in drug trafficking were neutralized during the reporting period.
