Interior Ministry’s press service told APA that attache of the German Embassy in Azerbaijan Daniel Birnbaum appealed to Police Department #22 of Nasimi District Police Office on February 19, 2015 that he was insulted and physically assaulted by an unknown person at the office of the Embassy located in "ISR Plaza" and a result of his hooliganism, normal operation of the diplomatic mission was suspended for a short period of time.
The case was immediately investigated and it was revealed he was beaten by Baku resident Farid Najafguluzade. The investigating authority questioned Birnbaum, other officials of the embassy as well as Farid Najafguluzade and took other urgent measures.
The collected materials were sent to the Investigation Department of Nasimi District Police Office. A criminal case was launched on the fact under article #221.1 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code, the investigation is underway.
All necessary measures will be taken for complete, thorough and objective investigation of the case and legal assessment of Farid Najafguluzade’s act.
