CoE Committee of Ministers to discuss implementation of two judgments passed by ECtHR on Azerbaijan

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. The implementation of the judgments passed by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) will be discussed at the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on December 3-5.

APA reports quoting the CoE press service that these judgments have been passed on a number of countries, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UK.

The two judgments on Azerbaijan will be considered at the meeting: the violation of the right to freedom of expression of journalists Rovshan Mahmudov and Yashar Agahazadeh (the final judgment was passed on March 18, 2009); the violation of the right to vote of Nemat Aliyev in 2005 (the final judgment was passed on July 8, 2010).

The supervisory role of the CoE Committee of Ministers is provided in accordance with the article 46 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
