Baku. Hafiz Heydarov - APA. A man has been arrested for killing a leopard listed in the Red Book of Azerbaijan and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
On October 8 at about 10:00PM, resident of Astara’s Sim village Boyukaghazadeh Natig, 20, by his father’s hunting rifle, shot a rare leopard dead in the forest.
He was detained by border guards while attempting to sell the skin of the animal in the district’s Chukesh village together with his relative Samad Farajov.
Prosecutor General's Office has launched a criminal case on the fact under article #258.2.3 (illegal hunting of birds and animals, hunting on which is forbidden completely) of the Criminal Code, and Boyukaghazade was sentenced to pretrial detention.
Investigation is underway on the fact.
