Azerbaijan makes public statistics of corruption crimes recorded last year

Addressing the press conference on the outcome of last year, department chief Kamran Aliyev said the department considered 1860 appeals of citizens, 230 criminal materials were investigated. Criminal proceedings were launched on 69% of the criminal materials, necessary preventive measures were taken regarding other materials.

161 call center of the department received 5311 appeals in the reporting period, criminal proceedings were launched on 26 of these appeals, investigation was carried out, initial investigation regarding 16 appeals was completed and the materials were submitted to courts.

The Department completed investigation of 201 crimes regarding 367 persons, the materials were submitted to courts. 3 of them faced charges of giving bribes in 2 cases, 41 taking bribes in 16 cases, 66 abuse of power in 36 cases, 5 exceeding powers in 4 cases, 8 negligence at work in 4 cases, 124 embezzlement in 65 cases, 17 illegal entrepreneurship in 7 cases, 2 tax evasion in 2 cases, 84 swindling in 51 cases, 16 other charges in 13 cases.

The criminal cases submitted to courts caused AZN 40 92 000 damage. AZN 17 236 000 or 42.9% of it was paid during investigation, measures were taken for payment of the rest damage by seizing the property of the offenders.
