The defendant’s attorney Anar Gasimli delivered a speech at the hearing presided over by judge Ramella Allahverdiyeva. The lawyer asked a conditional sentence for her.
Khirda Babayeva made her last plea. She asked the judge to exclude journalists from courtroom, but the judge said it is impossible as it is an open court hearing.
Babayeva said that she is ready to provide any assistance to the child, even she wouldn’t be forgiven.
Then, the court sentenced Babayeva to 11 years in prison.
The public prosecutor demanded 12-year imprisonment for Khirda Babayeva.
On August 13, 2014, Sumgayit resident Aysel Ahmadova appealed to the city Police Office, claiming that her 2-month-old daughter Aylin was abducted by an unknown woman while she was walking with her underage children in the park.
A criminal case was launched on the fact under Article 144.1 (kidnapping of person) of the Criminal Code. As a result of search operations, Baku resident Khirda Babayeva was detained on September 3.
