Deputy Head Physician of Baku City Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid Station Zemfira Vahidova told APA that 25 suicide attempts were made in January.
She said that 6 of them died: “6 people – 4 women and 2 men hanged themselves in January. All of them died. One person stabbed himself and was hospitalized. A woman threw herself into the sea, she was rescued. 17 people poisoned themselves. Two of them committed suicide drinking acetic acid and 15 taking medicines. All of them were hospitalized.”
Vahidova noted that reasons of the suicides are unknown: “We don’t know the reasons. Our duty is to render first aid to patients, hospitalize them and inform the police in case of the death.
