At least 15 people, including eight children, were hospitalized on Monday morning in the Astara district with gastrointestinal complaints, TABIB said in response to APA's inquiry.
Among those affected, nine are women and six are men.
The patients were admitted to the Infectious Diseases Department of the Astara Central Hospital, where necessary medical care was provided. According to the authorities, 13 patients are in stable condition, while two remain in relatively serious condition.
Initial reports indicate that the incident occurred in Motlayatag village and involved members of a single family. The family members reported feeling unwell after consuming watermelon. Local authorities are investigating the circumstances of the poisoning.
