The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on July 30 on the fact of hospitalization with stab wounds of Javadov Nazir Agazhavad oglu, born in 1971, in the city of Sumgayit, Haji Zeynalabdin settlement, is ongoing at the Sumgayit City Police Department, APA reports.

Taleh Mammadov, born in 1989, registered as a candidate for snap parliamentary elections on September 1, 2024 from Sumgayit fifth electoral district No. 46, deliberately stabbed Nazir Javadov during a dispute that arose on the basis of personal relationships.

Since Taleh Mammadov's candidacy was registered on July 29, 2024, in accordance with the requirements of the Criminal Procedure and Electoral Codes of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General gave his consent to bring him to criminal responsibility.

Based on the collected evidence, Taleh Mammadov was charged under Article 126.1 (Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code, taking into account the severity and nature of the act, based on the petition of the investigative body and the submission of the prosecutor who carried out the procedural management of the preliminary investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Preliminary investigation is currently ongoing in the criminal case.
