To ensure the reliable protection of the state border and as part of efforts to combat the illegal circulation of drugs, a total of 16 kilograms and 220 grams of drug were prevented from being smuggled from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan within the service areas of the "Goytapa" border detachments of the State Border Service's Border Troops, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
During border search and operational measures conducted on November 2 at 22:45 in the service area of the "Goytapa" border detachment, 5 kilograms and 715 grams of marijuana were prevented from being smuggled into our country. Additionally, on November 3 at 07:45, 10 kilograms and 505 grams (7 kg 445 grams of opium; 3 kg 60 grams of heroin) of drug were also prevented from being smuggled.
Operational-investigative measures are ongoing regarding the mentioned incidents.
