Former parliamentary candidate’s pre-trial detention prolonged

The investigation is conducted by the Sabayel district prosecutor’s office and therefore the pre-trial detention was prolonged by the court of this district.

On June 8, former deputy candidate Nadir Orujov shot dead his friend Rovshan Rustamov as a result of disputes between them. The incident took place at about 16.00 in a car-wash point owned by Orujov in the territory of Nasimi district of Baku. Orujov surrendered to police and handed over his Makarov pistol, the murder weapon.

Nadir Orujov run for the parliament in 2005 from Binagadi district and in 2010 from Nasimi district of Baku. He is head of the Azerbaijani representation of the World Azerbaijanis Congress led by Gulamrza Tabrizi. Orujov is chief executive of Zivar Nadir commercial production firm. Orujov is charged with deliberate murder and illegal bearings arms.

Earlier Nasimi district court made decision to detain Orujov in two-month pre-trail detention.
