According to APA, 10 pardoned prisoners were released from the penitentiary No. 2 this morning.

Three prisoners were released from the women’s penitentiary. Participating in the execution of the pardon decree, Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova said it was 49th pardon decree in Azerbaijan. “Such number of pardon decrees is signed nowhere else in the world. The situation is different in neighbour countries, Georgia, Ukraine. I just returned from Ukraine. There are 1400 teenage prisoners in Ukraine. 600 of them are the girls under 18. But there is no imprisoned girl under 18 in Azerbaijan”.

Deputy chief of the penitentiary service Huseyn Alikhanov also welcomed the pardon decree.

The pardon decree signed by the President of Azerbaijan covered 90 prisoners. 70 people were freed from remained part of their imprisonment, the term of imprisonment for two was reduced by half, 10 people put under restraint were released from remained part of their restraint, two sentenced for correctional work were also released and six were freed from the pecuniary penalty.

Eynulla Fatullayev, Eldaniz Lahicov, Mushfig Madatov, Anar Namazov, Akif Maharramov are among the pardoned persons.

Azerbaijani President pardoned several foreign prisoners too.
