Investigation of criminal case on murder of Azerbaijani Supreme Court judge’s wife completed

The investigation of the criminal case lasted for seven months. Khalida Balabey Ahmadova faced charges over the fact and admitted her guilt. The materials of the criminal case were submitted to Baku Court of Grave Crimes.

Natevan Hamid Mahmudova, 39, was found dead in her house in Chobanzadeh street, 47, in Baku at 13.00 on October 15, 2010. There were signs of violence on the body.

Baku Prosecutor’s Office immediately launched criminal case on the fact on article 120.2.5 (premeditated murder for profit) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan Republic.

Bruises were revealed on Natevan Mahmudova’s face, jaw and other parts of her body. According to the judgment of the forensic medical examination, Mahmudova died of suffocation, as her mouth and nose were shut with a soft thing.

As a result of the urgent measures taken by the police and prosecuting authorities, ex-prisoner Khalida Balabey Ahmadova, 35, suspected of killing Mahmudova was detained. Natevan Mahmudova’s ID card, bank cards, jewelries and money stolen from her house were found in Ahmadova’s house.

Natevan Mahmudova was the wife of the judge of Azerbaijan Supreme Court Tapdig Mahmudov.
