Baku – APA. Gunmen in northern Afghanistan have kidnapped a group of engineers and their Afghan driver, APA reports quoting “The Voice of America”.

Afghan officials say the group, including at least three Pakistanis and two Afghans, were traveling by car late Thursday when they were stopped and abducted in Jawzjan province.

The officials say the engineers were headed for a United Nations project in Sar-i-Pul.

No one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.

Last December, gunmen killed a Bangladeshi engineer and kidnapped seven Bangladeshi road workers at a work camp in Balkh province. Only two of the kidnapped Bangladeshis have since been released.

Also Friday, the British defense ministry said a soldier has died from wounds suffered in a roadside blast in southern Afghanistan.

The soldier was wounded while on patrol Wednesday in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand Province.

The death brings to 360 the number of British forces and civilian defense workers killed in Afghanistan since 2001.
