Aslan Ismayilov: The actions in Sumgayit were committed by Armenians in line with the plan of the USSR State Security Committee - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. Lawyer Aslan Ismayilov presented copies of his book â€œSumgayit â€“ the beginning of USSRâ€™s collapseâ€ translated into Turkish, Russian and English, APA reports. Aslan Ismayilov said the book was published to combat Armeniansâ€™ efforts to lay the blame on Azerbaijanis for Sumgayit happenings.
â€œThe book has been prepared basing on the materials of the then criminal case. I was public prosecutor in Azerbaijani Supreme Court in the case over the Sumgayit happenings. These actions were committed by Armenians in line with the plan of the USSR State Security Committee,â€ he said.

Aslan Ismayilov said there are exact materials about Armenian Eduard Grigoryan, who led the crimes against Armenians in Sumgayit.
â€œMikhail Gorbachov said Sumgayit happenings occurred as a result of the hooliganism of a group of persons. His attitude towards the happenings resulted in the cover-up of the crime. Though it was proved that Eduard Grigoryan led the organized gang, he was sentenced to 12-year imprisonment, the participant of the happenings Ahmad Ahmadov was sentenced to death. Soon after the trial Ahmad Ahmadov was executed in Moscow,â€ he said.
