Person accused of coup in Azerbaijan is hiding in Russia

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“ APA. It has become known that the person accused of coup in Azerbaijan is hiding in Russia, Binagadi district police office told APA.

Vilayat Muguzar Ismayilov, 48, has been wanted since 1995. He was one of the most active members of the Special Purpose Police Unit (OMON) led by Rovshan Javadov in Azerbaijan in the 90s of the past century. Vilayat Ismayilov participated in the coup. Later, he left the country. Ismayilov hid in various cities of Russia for a long time and changed his surname to Omarov.

Azerbaijani law-enforcement bodies have found out that Ismayilov is hiding in Moscow. The investigations revealed facts about Ismayilovâ€™s (Omarov) links to the criminal gangs in Russia. He was wounded in the eye in the armed incident of robbers in Moscow in 2010.

Russian and Azerbaijani law-enforcement bodies continue operations to detain Ismayilov (Omarov).
