Prosecutor demands sentence for members of organized gang led by businessman Shohrat Guliyev accused of committing murders in Azerbaijan

APA reports that the public prosecutor continued his speech. The prosecutor demanded life sentence for Ilham Shabanov with confiscation of his property, life sentence for Anar Hasanov, 15-year imprisonment for Sakhavat Khudiyev, 10-year imprisonment for Khazar Kazimov, 4 years and 6 months for Maharat Ismayilov and Bilal Verdiyev, 4-year imprisonment for Elim Shahmuradov and Nuru Atayev, 3 years and 6 months for Ilahiba Alasgarov, 2-year imprisonment for Zabit Abdinov.

At the previous hearing the public prosecutor demanded life sentence for shohrat Guliyev and Mehman Gaharamanov. At that time Shohrat Guliyev cut his veins. Therefore, the process was postponed.

Today after the public prosecutorâ€™s speech the suffering side was given the floor. They agreed to the prosecutorâ€™s speech. As the defendants and their lawyers were not ready for speech, the hearing was postponed by November 18.

According to the indictment, in December, 2003, Shohrat Guliyev together with Mehman Gahramanov set up an armed group consisting of Anar Hasanov, Sakhavat Khudiyev, Ilham Shabanov, Khazar Kazimov and Elmar Gasimov. Shohrat Guliyev ordered the members of the gang to kill Ahmad Ibrahimov in Baku and promised to give $25,000 for this. Anar Hasanov determined the address of Ibrahimov, the time when he returned home and killed Ahmad Ibrahimov outside his house on December 18, 2003. Makarov pistol was found in the garden near the building in Nuriyev, street, 32. It was proved that the bullets were shot from that pistol.
Shohrat Guliyev promised 25 000 USD to contract killers to murder resident of Ganja city Kamal Alakbarov, who regularly extorted money from him. Member of the criminal group Ilham Shabanov shot Alakbarov dead with a Makarov pistol on March 22, 2004.

The pistol was bought by another member of the group Elmar Gasimov from the worker of Ganja-based sports club Maharat Ismayilov for 600 dollars and found in the Shabanovâ€™s house in Ganja on May 26, 2009. Ballistic evidence proved that Alakbarov was shot dead with that gun.

The group members have always gathered in a cafÃ© in Ganja for planning new crimes and drug trafficking. Police found Kalashnikov gun, 30 bullets, as well as heroin in the cafÃ© owned by Khazar Kazimov.

Shohrat Guliyev, Mehman Gahramanov, Ilham Shabanov, Anar Hasanov, Sakhavat Khudiyev, Khazar Kazimov, Maharat Ismayilov, Rabit Abdinov, Elim Shahmuradov, Bilal Verdiyev, Nuru Atayev and Ilahiba Alasgarov face with charges under articles 120 (deliberate murder), 217 (banditry) and 228 (purchase and storage of illegal guns and ammunitions) of the Criminal Code.
