Sufferers give testimony on terrorist attack at Azerbaijan State Oil Company

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. On Monday, the Court of Grave Crimes has continued hearing on the criminal case related to the mass shooting at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy in April, 2009. The sufferers gave testimony in the process presided over by Ramella Allahverdiyeva, APA reports.

The sufferers – students of the Academy’s Oil and Gas Field School Elshan Mustafayev and Sudanese citizen Mohammad Mustafa have spoken about the incident.

Mustafa said he was on the second floor during the shooting. “I was wounded and I feigned dead to prevent further shooting. I lied on the ground for some 20 minutes until the ambulance arrived at site. I was seriously injured and now I have arm and head pain. I was deafened”.

Reporter of Interfax-Azerbaijan news agency Anar Azizov, whose mother was killed during the terrorist attack, also gave testimony. He said he immediately arreived at site when heard that his mother Tamella Azizova was wounded. “I called to my mother, but her fellow employee picked up her mobile phone and told me that she was seriously wounded. When I arrived I found my mother dead”.

Pro-rector of the Oil Academy Nuhbaba Shikhiyev attended the trial as a civil plaintiff. He said the terrorist attack caused 6 000 AZN losses of the State Oil Academy.

The process will be continued on May 4.

On April 30, 2009, an unknown man entered the building of the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, where the Oil and Gas Field and Oil Engineering schools located at Dilara Aliyeva Street, 227, and shot at everybody he met from the first floor up to the six floor. 12 were killed, 13 wounded in the aftermath of the shooting. Responsible employees of special task police unit, district police and prosecutor’s offices immediately arrived at the site. Seeing he will be rendered harmless by the police the criminal committed suicide. He was identified as the Georgian citizen Gadirov Farda Asad, 29.

The persons involved in the criminal case –Amirov Javidan Farman is charged with the articles 214.2.1 (terrorism), 28, 120.2.1 (preparation to deliberate murder), 120.2.3, 120.2.4, 120.2.5, 120.2.7, 120.2.10, 120.2.11, 120.2.12 (deliberate murder), 29 (attempt to deliberate murder), 206.4 (organized smuggling), 228.2.2, 228.3 (illegal storage, saving and carrying of arms and ammunitions), 234.1 (illegal storage and carrying of narcotic drugs), Aliyev Nadir Shirkhan and Suleymanov Najaf Novruz with articles 214.2.1, 214.2.3, 120.2.1, 120.2.3, 120.2.4, 120.2.5, 120.2.7, 120.2.10, 120.2.11, 120.2.12, 228.2.2, 228.3, 206.4, 228.3, Gabulov Ariz Zahid with articles 206.3 and 228.2.1 of the Criminal Code.

The criminal case launched against Farda Gadirov was dropped because of his suicide.

The Georgian citizen of Armenian national Gumashian Mardun Grigorievich was identified as an originator of the terrorist attack at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy. Azerbaijani law-enforcement agencies are taking necessary measures to bring Mardun Gumashian, who originated mass shooting at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy last April, to justice. Gumashian was declared wanted by Interpol.

The General Prosecutor’s Office completed investigation on March 29 and sent the materials to the Court of Grave Crimes.
