Hasanov said that Chaloka Beyani’s visit was very successful. State Committee Chairman noted that he only wants the Special Rapporteur to reflect all the truth he saw here in his report: “All meetings envisaged in the program of the meeting took place. Our government considers that the visit was successful.”
Beyani said that he met with the Azerbaijani officials, representatives of civil society and members of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh as a part of his visit.
Noting that he visited the settlements inhabited by IDPs, Chaloka Beyani said he has witnessed of steps taken by the Azerbaijani government to improve the living conditions of IDPs: “You can not compare the current situation with the previous one. During this period the Azerbaijani government has taken significant steps to improve the living conditions of IDPs.”
Beyani noted that he will submit his report on IDPs in Azerbaijan to the UN Security Council in October this year and the UN Human Rights Council in July this year.
